Norm McDonald is considered a comedy legend because he’s a comedian’s comedian. He made other comedians laugh.
The mainstream public did not really get what he was about because he spoke to a much tougher crowd. A much more discriminating audience.
You simply did not know what the next joke would be. Or what the punchline in the joke would be. And half the time it seemed like he didn’t know either.
